Our Mission
The Society of Black Colon and Rectal Surgeons (SBCRS) is a nonprofit organization established to mentor, support, and foster the development of colorectal surgeons across the country. We believe in the advancement of colorectal health equity in underserved communities and strive to increase the number of Black (and other underrepresented minorities) in this field.
A core mission of SBCRS is to facilitate the fellowship and professional development of members through sponsorships, mentorships, and networking. We support and encourage member involvement in various leadership positions to effect meaningful change in national and international surgical societies.
We offer Scholarships:
Students, residents and fellows who are members of SBCRS can apply to scholarships to advance their clinical, scientific, and leadership skills.
We offer Mentorship:
At SBCRS, our members have access to mentorship programs from top Colorectal surgeons.

SBCRS believes in increasing the number of Blacks and minorities moving into medical school, general surgery, and colon and rectal surgery by providing holistic support for Black colorectal surgeons, improving representation, and fostering careers of black and underrepresented minority colorectal surgeons.
